React Lady Stunna

  chick of the month

December 2013

React: I always have my 4”pink knife on me. I use it a lot actually, usually to open things without ruining my nails, but always prepared in case a creeper is on the loose or a looney photographer.

Daniel/HRM: Or creepy photographers with she-clown makeup on. What is the worse joke you ever heard, out of curiosity?

React: How do you catch a bra? With a Booby Trap.

Daniel/HRM: (laughs)  I never heard that in my life but it ranks up there with my favorite, “Look down your shirt and spell ‘attic’ out loud.  Classic!  Usually, I save questions like this for a section other than the Hip Rock Gallery. But I just went with it. Let’s focus more on you as an all-in-one woman. You started out modeling, if I read correctly. In what way did modeling empower you? And what prompted the decision to model?

React: It’s actually the opposite. I started modeling because of the music. I had done a photo shoot for my website and a record cover. A friend of mine recommended that I put my photos on Model Mayhem, so I did. Right away I started getting modeling opportunities, so I went for a few of them. Modeling is something I never thought of doing, but I now enjoy it very much. I get to express my creativity visually and have a lot of fun doing it.

Daniel/HRM: Were you always a pretty confident woman as far as your body is concerned? What other areas were you always confident in?

React: I have always been a confident person, but I had struggled with body image issues from time to time. Being in the industry and seeing raw images other then what goes into most magazines gave me a reality check that nobody is perfect. I have accepted and love my body for what it is. It is important to take care of yourself by eating healthy and nourishing the soul. I find I look my best when my inside is well, the beauty reflects on the outside.

Daniel/HRM: That’s the truth. Since late Spring I’ve been doing soul work, inner cleaning and the like. Glad to see the results of someone who practices it life long! One thing I enjoy when I look at your pictures is the sense of class. You have lots to leave to the imagination and a good variety of props to help get a sense of your personality. Very respectable! Do you ever get to pick your own props to have in your photos?

React: Thank you! I am an old soul and have old fashioned values.  I absolutely adore vintage glam and pin up style which I reflect in much of my images. I have created the concepts and props myself for all of my images as well as music videos with the exception of the images that I shot for 504 Dymes Magazine.

Daniel/HRM: What other modeling offers do you have on the table?

React: I have a few magazines and liquor companies I have projects in the works. I don’t like to mention names until they are in print, you know how that goes. However, the modeling is mainly a hobby, my music is the focus.

Daniel/HRM: I think one of the most attractive things about your image is your class. Physically, I enjoy your lips and I mean that in a respectful way. What do you think is most attractive about your body?

React: I have to agree with your choice. I absolutely love big lips on men and women.

Daniel/HRM: Do you have tattoos anywhere? And are you the type of woman who loves to change her hair style and color from time to time?

React: I do have tattoos, I have 5. I actually worked at a tattoo shop for four years. I have them all so that I can hide then when appropriate in a corporate setting. I love ink though; I love all forms of art.  Most people say I am like a chameleon; I look different every time they see me. I do change my style a lot. However, an image consultant I met suggested not to change my hair too much until I get signed to a major record label. This way I am always recognized.

Daniel/HRM: Interesting. When you’re at home relaxing, what do you like to wear? Also, what do you enjoy wearing when you go out?

React: I’m usually just lounging in boy shorts and a bra.  My neighbors seem to notice also. (laughs) I’m pretty much dressed up fancy when I go out. I wear a lot of dresses. Unless it’s just a day working in the studio, I like to wear nice track suits and a Yankee fitted.

Daniel/HRM: If a guy were to show interest in a way that you would accept what things could they say that wouldn’t get them a slap in the face?

React: Anything as long as is respectable and professional. I don’t acknowledge stupidity. I kind of got that don’t mess with me look, I think.

Daniel/HRM: (laughs) I think you would have a Jennifer Garner toughness, honestly. What if they were to buy you a drink?

React: Cheers!

Daniel/HRM: And if they were to start a conversation with a puppet on their hand?

React: They would have my full attention. I’m a big kid, I’ll never grow up…that’s what makes you get old. I tend to be attracted to eccentric people, most of my friends are definitely different than the norm.

Daniel/HRM: I like different too! So let’s segue into your music. Did modeling help get you a leg up when it comes to music or did you start at the basic level like most others?

React: Modeling without a doubt helps my music publicity. I get a lot of positive feedback on my images as well as website features and print work, and I don’t really look like who you would picture when hearing my music. So when my modeling fans find out I’m a rapper, they get even more intrigued. I feel like everyone I know these days is trying to make it into the music industry. You need to bring all your talent to the table to make yourself stand out and show your value.

Daniel/HRM: Do you think it’s important to have a sexy image in the music scene?

React: Absolutely. It doesn’t have to just be physical either. Sexiness needs to come from your voice, your confidence and most importantly your soul!

Daniel/HRM: I listened to some of your Reverbnation tracks. There’s lots of potential there. Do you find an equal amount of confidence in music or does the balance from that and modeling teeter some?

React: I believe they are both equal, they are just expressions of me. I do think with the amount of people and competition trying to make it in the music industry that the modeling helps get attention to my music.

Daniel/HRM: Do you play any instruments or have a hand in the beats?

React: I can play the piano somewhat and yes I love to help with the production. I used to make beats all the time on a Triton workstation. However, time just doesn’t permit that right now. But I enjoy that too!

Daniel/HRM: When you’re writing your lyrics, do you have any specifically about modeling whether it’s the struggles you have faced, the corporate ugliness, or anything of that nature?

React: My lyrics are mostly about what is going on in my life or about the music industry. I don’t take the modeling too serious, just have fun with it. Although I did want to get into an urban magazine that I read and was told my bootie was not big enough. I’m not about to go get butt injections like most of the video vixens, it’s definitely going to be interesting to see what they look like in their golden years with these enormous booties. As for the natural women with the gigantic booties, like I said I see many raw images and there is a ton of cellulite on them girls. I don’t follow trends, I’m a trendsetter.

Daniel/HRM: Uh oh, I think you just got your catch phrase. Quick, patent that! (laughs) I think big booties are overrated. Personally, I like smaller booties. My huge thing is collar bones and necks. Let’s hope they don’t start injecting those areas.

What are some subjects you’ve found fun to incorporate in your music?

React: What I love about being an artist is you can transform to be anyone or anything for a moment in time. Just like an actor, with music you can go into character. I am currently working on two new records that I’m very excited about. The one I previously mentioned “Harley Quinn” I get to be my alter ego and I love playing the Batman Arkham series video games. To be able to reenact them is so much fun. The second record is called “Clockwork Orange” based off the 1976 movie by Stanley Kubrick. Very interesting stuff!

Daniel/HRM: Sounds like it! This sounds like a good escape for you, a real creative way to be more in control. What other things do you do to feel creative and express yourself?

React: Music is my #1 escape; it is pure therapy where my soul is at its highest. I also draw, dance and do extreme sports like snowboarding and zip lining.

Daniel/HRM: Do you also keep a diary? And do your lyrics reflect much of any specifics in it?

React: I don’t keep a diary, although I’d like to. I am a very private person, but I wouldn’t want my diary to wind up in anyone’s hands.

Daniel/HRM: Like the guy who tells you the bra joke. I hear ya. Girl, I tell you this, I could ask a ton more questions. I do find a fascination with your intellect, class and foray into music. Before I wrap it up let’s talk a bit about that brain of yours. I think marketing was an excellent choice given the entertainment aspect of your life. The medicine degree, what sparked this interest and is it something you may continue to pursue?

React: I completed my first four years undergrad with Science. It began as a Forensic Science Major at John Jay for the first two years, until it came time to work on the cadavers. Between the smell and the nightmare I started having, I switched to Pre-Medicine biology. I was always a science geek. As I was studying for my MCats, I said to myself I did not want to be a regular doctor. They don’t really make people better, they treat disease; and that’s depressing. So I started all over and completed another four year program for Business. I think it was a smart move, because it gave me a solid foundation to enter many different fields of work. I currently am a Functional Medicine Consultant for Physicians which I do full time in addition to my music.

Daniel/HRM: Will you marry me? (laughs) That is pretty impressive. I do find that people who search for diseases will probably eventually find them even if they aren’t there. I think the best cure starts in the mind. If you get a hold of your thoughts and point them in a positive direction, everything else follows.

So I guess if I had a sore throat or some weird sinus condition you might be a big help. But if I woke up one morning with, I don’t know, shapes of crop circles as a rash on my skin could you be of any help?

React: I actually work with the doctors that patients go to when they have weird atypical symptoms going on that the conventional doctor can’t solve. Growing up, my favorite game was Clue. It’s just like that looking at abnormalities in advanced blood work or immunology pathways.

Daniel/HRM: What would you conclude then about my sense of humor when it comes to these sudden outburst of strange questions?

React: I admire it! I’m a tad strange so this is definitely my cup of tea.

Daniel/HRM: Nice. I would say you’re also a pleasure to thumb wrestle with. I suppose then I might just stick with NyQuil, One a Day vitamins and spinach salads and just talk to you when it comes to music and modeling. Does that make better sense?

React: I’m so passionate about both, so I’m all ears. It’s all about positively impacting the human life, whether it be through health or music. And perhaps a few eye candy pictures don’t hurt either ;o)

Daniel/HRM: (laughs) Well, React, it was a pleasure to have such a long conversation with you. They’re normally not this long but these questions just started spewing out. Fantastic! Before I go tell me and readers what is going on in the near future concerning your music and modeling career.

React: I have a mixtape dropping soon called “Unnecessary Roughness” as well as a summer mixtape coming. Look out for my new “Harley Quinn” video dropping this spring. I have some TV appearances coming up as well. You can follow me on facebook, twitter or reverbnation for details.

Daniel/HRM: Is there anything else you would like to add?

React: Namaste.

Daniel/HRM: Ah, part Indian are we? What are the best links to keep up with your career stuff?

React:

Daniel/HRM: Lunch can be on me if ever I’m out that way reviewing shows. But not if I have a fever or a strange rash on my skin (laughs). Thanks so much for this incredible opportunity. I wish you the very best!

React: It was awesome, you’re fantastic. Thanks for the opportunity, it was a pleasure.

THE INTERVIEW

Daniel/HRM: React, it’s certainly a pleasure to meet you. You do have a great combination of looks and Hip Hop style. To get things off in a fun direction tell us one unusual thing you carry in your purse.

React: My Harley Quinn action figure. She is my alter ego. I’m coming out with a new record and video coming soon called “Harley Quinn”.

Daniel/HRM: No way! That’s pretty bad ass! I once had a Harley Quinn hand puppet. Just kidding but the pervs out there probably laughed and borderline naughties probably rolled their eyes. (laughs). So then, what item in your purse would best defend yourself against stalkers, vampires or people who tell bad jokes?
