The Courtesans are really the next big thing, I can already tell. Hyped as a group of 4 personalities who are Sinead La Bella (Light), Agnes Jones (Darkness), Saffire Sanchez (Rebel) and Victoria Brown (Temptation) and delivering some of the sexiest music I’ve ever heard it’s tough to deny this claim.
They come to us from London bringing a sultry flair of electro rock and have no shame. On their website I was blown away by the marketability of the looks, appeal, direction, personalities and, most importantly, the music! Completely adult themed and comfortably so this is the stuff your bedroom adventures would greatly benefit from! In fact, their press release captures it best!
Meeting on a dark wild night in London spurred on by absinthe kisses and tales to never be repeated, The Courtesans bring together four emphatic personalities merged by fate to craft an intoxicating brand of sultry, unapologetic electro rock with a bite. Brash and wild, powerful and unstable, The Courtesans are here.
"Raucous guitars brush up against thigh-skimming angelic chords and seductive sounds; an irresistible mix of unpredictable music and provocative live shows all wrapped tenderly in the feminine form. Restless, tortured by their own dreams and a passion for their art, the secretive band have decided that their time is nigh.
Debaucherous, vicious and addictive, the band’s brazen take on The Velvet Underground’s ‘Venus In Furs’ gives a tantalising taste of things to come. Listen here and grab that embed code: https://soundcloud.com/thecourtesans/venus-in-furs-mp3"
So let's grab a quick interview while they wrap up their debut album and begin the trek that will ultimately lead to world super stardom!
THE INTERVIEW
Daniel/HRM: Please introduce yourself and tell me what you think the perfect bath setting would be.
The Courtesans: See attached photo.
Daniel/HRM: It’s no secret that your music, visuals and persona is hot! You seem to artistically speak to a darker part of the sensual desires of mankind. When did this mindset take over?
The Courtesans: We are natural born thrillers. (See what we did there) It has always been thus.
Daniel/HRM: Sadly, some people will view your style as how you are at all times. Tell us some things about you that show there’s more to you than this sultry, arousal side. Answer some of these unique questions;
Favorite animal cracker:
The Courtesans: You mean there are crackers shaped like animals! Shit! Whatever will they think of next!!!!
Favorite thing to put on bread:
The Courtesans: Animal crackers.
Favorite joke about an animal:
The Courtesans: We see an animal theme building here and will play no part in it.
One Muppet you’d like to punch in the face:
The Courtesans: Simon Cowell? Oh you mean like Gonzo or someone? Oh ok …. Gonzo then …… yea that fucker Gonzo!
Sinead: No Sam the Eagle (Knock his eyebrows off) Agnes: Definitely Miss Piggy, she is a biatch and smells of bacon ….. Erm maybe that’s a good thing thinking about it …..
Favorite adult movie: Animal Farm
The Courtesans: (Ok we are now onboard with the animal theme thing)
What your own custom lamp shade would look like:
The Courtesans: It would be made from the skins of every person that ever pissed us off – it would be beautiful and satisfying to the soul and we would carry it everywhere with us as a cautionary tale to ward off all potential future pisser offers!
Daniel/HRM: I like it! So far, so good, right?
The Courtesans: Outstanding Mr. Morrison XXXX
Daniel/HRM: You’ve released a couple edgy videos lately and are celebrating some great success for your album releasing this month. What is the name of this album and what prompted the name?.
The Courtesans: We are still deliberating, discussing, arguing and fighting about the name of the album. It’s not always easy agreeing on a name when four opinionated women are involved.
Daniel/HRM: Tell us a bit about the first single coming off this album.
The Courtesans: It’s called “Genius”. It’s all about control, manipulation, bad love, mind games, co-dependency, fear, insecurity and domination….. Got your attention now haven’t we? It’s one of our more cheerful little numbers.
Daniel/HRM: Sounds a lot like you’re average relationship. (laughs) What’s your tour looking like? Will it start out just in London? When can we U.S. fans expect a live show?
The Courtesans: Our Halloween Tour is starting in London and then we are heading up to Scotland. The U.S. 2014
Daniel/HRM: Do you have shows specifically catered to adult audiences or are they catered to all audiences? I guess what I mean is, are the live shows as arousing as the videos?
The Courtesans: Yes, only grown-ups are allowed in and to be absolutely sure of their age we cut each person in half at the door and count the rings.
Daniel/HRM: (laughs) I love the balance of the group and how you are promoting it. There’s Light, Darkness, Temptation and Rebel. Describe a bit of these personas.
The Courtesans: We were baptized in blood by Lucrezia Borgia …. Lovely lady ….. Very misunderstood.
Daniel/HRM: Was this always the idea or did it just happen after a brainstorming session? And what food did you eat that night? (Laughs)
The Courtesans: Upon recommendation, we ate Lucrezia’s first born the night before but politely declined one of her “Special” drinks to wash it down with!
Daniel/HRM: Nice! Since this is Halloween month, what are your thoughts on Halloween? Do you dress up? Do you trick or treat? Do you rock the stage until your eyes go to the back of your head?
The Courtesans: We do indeed have eyes in the back of our heads and that does cut into our budget as far as eyeliner goes. We also like to look on Halloween as our collective birthday – we don’t dress up, we dress down, run naked around the neighbourhood trick or treating and strangely enough our treat buckets are NEVER empty.
Daniel/HRM: What types of bands do you see yourself touring with? And who have you shared the stage with so far?
The Courtesans: Miley Cyrus, Britney, Christina and probably Rammstein and Marylin Manson as support. Admit it – you want to be there!?
Daniel/HRM: Where can people go for more about you?
The Courtesans: The following links:
Plus anywhere else dark, damp and musty ….
Daniel/HRM: Is there anything else you would like to add?
The Courtesans: Milk and two sugars …. Well we are English after all and it’s ALWAYS tea time here.
Daniel/HRM: Here comes that last signature question. Let’s say that you were at your favorite chill spot. The room was just how you like it and there was a goblet filled with a provocative punch. When you drank from it you were frozen for about an hour. Luckily, you were in one of your sexiest poses. Describe this room, tell us what pose you were frozen in and tell us which song of yours best represents this situation.
The Courtesans: Well of course we would be in the bath AGAIN fighting over the “tap” end (English faucet) …. a slippery tangle of oily limbs, like a pit of snakes it would be hard to know which arm, leg, or tattoo belonged to whom.
Sinead would be trying to free her toe from inside the tap. The song “Liberate”, one of the tracks on our album, would be banging out through the 10 foot speakers we keep just for occasions like these….. Ah ….. Good times …..
Daniel/HRM: Fantastic! What did you think of this interview?
The Courtesans: Top sausage! (Also see “very good”)
Daniel/HRM: It might not be anything like that fantastic blend of music, visuals and art style that you all seem to easily orchestrate. I’m very excited to attend a show of yours in my future. I wish you all the very best!
The Courtesans: Many thank yous indeed Daniel, we look forward to meeting you in the U.S. you lovely man.
Peace Love & Music
