Raining Ramen

Ramen noodles. For years these glorious, unhealthy, high in sodium packaged meals that serve two have been a staple for artists of all genres. In honor of these cheap, charitable noodles the RAINING RAMEN section brings to your attention artists that are damn good but don’t have the finances to get out to the masses. Staying true to our mission statement we won’t let these deserving musicians fall prey to the ridiculousness of the illusion of the all mighty dollar.
The artists presented here will introduce to you a new recipe to make those mundane noodles more appealing than ever before, much like their music has the potential to be.

MATHEW MARTINEK

Matthew Martinek

http://www.matthewmartinek.com

Matthew comes to us from Dallas, Texas and does everything on his own. His music has variety and it’s hard to pinpoint the style. It’s not metal, rock, harcore, scream, hip hop, goth or anything like that. It reminds me of the 70’s hippie lifestyle but in imagery only. The music itself doesn’t sound outdated, it just reminds me of those times. He has a lot going on in his music and it was enough to score him a rank of #1 in Dallas, Texas on reverbnation in the category of Alternative/Indie Rock.

Matthew would agree that his arrangements and compositions are a bit risky but his desire to stand out is pretty important. I’d go as far as to say you probably wouldn’t find anything like what he does. A sit through with just one of his songs will take you on a journey for sure. Whether you appreciate his diversity or find it confusing he’s worth a shout out for. He’s on the road to go places and you could even see his musical come about one day. Thanks Matthew for contributing something a bit different to the world!

Let's get some informative questions answered

by this unique artist...

THEY CALL IT Chocolate Ramen Dessert”

What it Takes

1 pkg any flavor ramen- crushed (save the seasoning for another day)
1 c. brown sugar
Chocolate syrup
1 tsp Vanilla
powdered sugar (optional)

How It’s Done

Boil the ramen in 2 cu
ps of hot water with 1 cup of brown sugar added to it for 3 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat and drain 98% of the water (in other words, leave a tiny bit), add 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1/2- 1 c. of chocolate syrup (depending on your chocolate craving!) Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar & add whatever amount of whipped crema you want.

1)      What city/state are you from and how long have you been around?

I am from Dallas, Texas and I am 38 years old. I  have been writing music formally since I was 8 years old.

2) Any awards or amazing accolades to your group?

I have personally received many awards throughout my time in school eventually leading to my earning a full scholarship from the University of North Texas music school, well known as the very best school for the study of jazz in the world ,actually. This year I won 19 individual awards for music including the Track of the Year and Solo Artist of the Year Award from the very popular Facebook awards group, "I LIKE IT."

3) What would you say your style was?

To give it a name, I'm not sure, but I would say it feels sad yet triumphant.  I write in multiple genres and am considered an alternative artist, but many of my songs can be characterized by their complexity as well as their heavily layered and lush arrangements. Often I receive praise for my use of complex interactivity between instruments and their rhythms. ,The word unique has been used literally hundreds of times, publicly, to describe my music this past year.

4) How often do you buy Ramen Noodles and how often do you have to eat them?

Honest answer….. only as often as I am forced to eat them  which amounts to  a few packets every 2 or 3 months.

5) Who are the band members and what instruments do they play?

I am a solo artist and multi instrumentalist. On my upcoming LP, "Prospects Of Magnetism" I, in fact, play 18 instruments including drums/percussion, bass, acoustic guitars that are steel, nylon and 12 string, electric guitar, (lap) steel guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano, organ, keyboards, accordion,  ukelele, harmonica, xylophone, bells and an impression of any number of instruments emulated by a synthesizers as well as all vocals and choral additions.

6)  How would you use ramen to battle the forces of evil?

As money is the root of all evil I would simply raise the price of the ramen. Their just too cheap to be safe around and inherently evil themselves anyway. Unfortunately, to raise their price would make some less likely to be able to afford their future hospital bills caused by the dreaded noodle.

7) What is your best link for people to check out your music?

I would say Soundcloud for the best sound quality https://soundcloud.com/matthew-martinek and Facebook if you just want to make me happy and look good. http://www.facebook.com/matthewmartinekmusic

7) What else would you like to add?

My debut LP "Prospects Of Magnetism" will be available for sale May 8th at all major online retailer stores. You too could help combat the forces of evil by purchasing your copy of my LP, and in this way saving another poor soul from the clutches of a ramen destiny.
